The project so far has looked at more than 100 million cells – deeply analysing each individual one - from 10,000 people around the world.

"They looked at every single thing that went wrong that day, including the way the calls were handled and retrained staff," she said.

"She said 'girls now know that they can be athletes. Girls now know that they can be on the cover of Sports Illustrated'. It completely changed the way I looked at that cover."

There was complete silence as they looked at each other and Dominique Pelicot then held his head in his hands.
