The eastbound carriageway of the motorway was reopened at about 20:20, but police said the westbound carriageway would remain closed until the early hours of Sunday as an investigation continued.

“The motorcyclist was ejected onto westbound lanes of traffic on Devonshire as a result of the collision,” the police statement read.

The northbound 71 Freeway transition to the westbound 10 Freeway and the Kellogg Drive offramp have been closed because of the crash, he added.

Delays of about 45 minutes are also affecting traffic travelling westbound on the M26 leading up to the M25 at junction five, National Highways says.
