Politics aside, I defy you to find another group of people who went through this amazing thing together, who love each other and stay in touch as much as we do.

While he suspected that “Fallout” would get some attention, especially from fans of the video game, “no one imagined it would be on this scale. That is gratifying and extremely humbling. People have shown up and responded to the work of 500 people that pulled this thing together.”

For a few minutes on Monday, a big patch of the country did the same thing, together, happily and in wonder.

“We’re still up the middle together. We still are doing this thing together. So it doesn’t really matter. We’re going to the same place. We have the same goal in mind. I don’t think anybody cares how we get there.”
