Not too long ago, there was the mob wife and the coastal grandma, both of which went viral and quickly flamed out on TikTok.

A mob forms to target an innocent and often helpless victim, and the members of the mob draw on each other's energy to justify their sadism and turn it into entertainment.

This is a fear response, the classic "throwing them to the wolves" strategy of feeding the victim to the mob, in hopes they don't eat you next.

In response, Trump superfans rioted their way into the Capitol building, Trump’s vice president was threatened with lynching while much of Congress hid from the mob in fear for their lives, and then Republicans largely coalesced around Trump and his stolen-election lies.

In the immediate aftermath of the 6 January attack, McCarthy had said that Trump “bears responsibility” for the mob violence and recommended that Congress formally censure him for his conduct.
