City officials ordered Sarr’s Wholesale Furniture vacated after finding the building’s first-floor commercial space and cellar had been converted into sleeping quarters, with 14 bunk beds and 13 beds tightly packed on both floors and able to fit about 41 people.

The cabin is now open to visitors to explore the cabin’s tiny kitchen re-created with antique tools, a high-ceilinged living room and petite furniture, and stairs to the upstairs sleeping quarters.

Maggiotto said city inspectors found the building’s first-floor commercial space and cellar had been converted into sleeping quarters, with 14 bunk beds and 13 beds tightly packed on both floors and able to fit about 41 people.

It would require inmate restrooms, changing rooms and sleeping quarters in correctional facilities to be designated for use only by members of one sex.
