Second Advent

The Puritans were chiliasts, firm believers in the millennial prophecies of the Bible: the coming of the antichrist, the Second Advent, Armageddon, the works.

And when the Fig-Tree shall bear figs, then shall be the Second Advent, the new sign of the Man bearing Water, and the manifestation of the Virgin-Mother crowned.

I of course deprecated all attempts to fix the date of the Second Advent, but he persisted in his attempts to prove that the Messiah would again be incarnate.

Do you expect me to stay here until the Second Advent?
