“Given the unprecedented magnitude of this cyberattack, and in the best interest of patients and health care providers, OCR is initiating an investigation into this incident,” the HHS Office for Civil Rights said in a statement last week.

"OCR usually works with photographs or scans. This is no problem for ink on paper or parchment. In the case of cuneiform tablets, however, things are more difficult because the light and the viewing angle greatly influence how well certain characters can be identified," explains Ernst Stötzner from MLU.

OCR says the project had 14 Youth Fellows in its final stages.

Earlier this year, the OCR exam board also piloted digital exams in UK schools.

Pearson, the awarding body responsible for BTecs, and OCR, which manages Cambridge Nationals and Cambridge Technicals, both apologised directly to students last year.
