Her brother, who was a tour director for the pop star and danced in her early music videos including Lucky Star, died from cancer on Friday in Michigan.

He was a backup dancer in the video for her single, “Lucky Star,” and played an important role behind the scenes on her blockbuster tours.

Overly moody arrangements of once-ebullient hits like “Hung Up,” “Ray of Light” and “Like a Prayer” didn’t help; nor did the baffling decision to forgo all-timers such as “Music,” “Borderline,” “Secret” and “Lucky Star” to make room for the likes of Madonna’s forgettable Bond theme, “Die Another Day.”

On Friday, Madonna assured fans that she’s up and about again by posting a video showing her dancing to her 1983 hit “Lucky Star.”

Madonna, who will embark on her retrospective “Celebration” tour this July, released a self-titled debut album in 1983 that generated four dance hits, including “Lucky Star,” “Borderline” and “Like a Virgin.”
