But it’s the way she employs her gaze in that Last Supper monologue and every moment of “The Penguin” that captures the extraordinariness of a little-known character in the “Batman” universe.

The criticized tableau evoked an assemblage of Greek gods, not “The Last Supper,” and Khelif is, in fact, a woman.

After an opening ceremony featuring drag artists and what some saw as a parody of Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, tabloid Moskovsky Komsomolets dubbed the Paris Olympics "The Games of Satan".

That sequence sparked controversy as some religious officials and conservative politicians in France and abroad saw an offensive reference to The Last Supper.
