Father in Heaven

“I speak to my father in heaven because Jesus made the relationship with the father real. Sometimes he speaks back. On this morning, I hear Rikers Island. My mind is blown. I don’t understand what this could be. I paused in my prayer and I googled Rikers Island. It said it was the worst jail in the world — a place they called hell on earth. I am thinking, what does this have to do with me?”

So we pray, father in heaven, we firmly believe that Donald J. Trump is current and true president of the United States….

At a Trump rally in Michigan last weekend, a local evangelist offered a prayer that stated, “Father in heaven, we firmly believe that Donald Trump is the current and true president of the United States.”

Whether political, theological, moral or ecclesiastical, every decision we make should be one of respect and humility before our fathers, our Founding Fathers, the Fathers of the Church and ultimately to our Father in heaven.

Luke Taylor always knew he had a mother and father in heaven, though as a child he didn’t really know what that meant.
