He plays in an Irish music jam twice a month and an “old-time string band” that plays weekly; there’s also a weekly drumming group, a weekly jazz jam, contra dance, klezmer, CD release concerts and much more.

After graduating from Wesleyan University in Connecticut with a major in physics, he moved back to Kentucky, where a friend invited him to a contra dance, a folk dance related to square dancing that involves two facing lines of dancers.

Activities include a scavenger hunt, puppet and magic shows, a community dinner, and fireworks over Wolfeboro Bay at 6:30 p.m. followed by a contra dance.
