The Bank of England says it will honor Alan Turing on a new 50-pound banknote.

They opened the sealed drums using a pair of scissors, upon which a rain of banknotes fell out.

A full set of the first issues were presented to the monarch, but hundreds of other low serial numbered banknotes have gone under the hammer.

New banknotes featuring the portrait of King Charles III have now entered circulation, but it may be some time before they are commonly seen in wallets and purses.

Authorities are also using force to prop up the new banknotes.
