Famed animation studio Pixar is laying off 14% of its staff as part of a round of cutbacks that had been signaled in January.

Lee served as head of the storied animation studio for six years, overseeing its creative output including movies, series and related projects.

Ellison’s company also has been building an animation studio under John Lasseter, former Pixar creative executive.

Later at the event, Toy Story star Tom Hanks joined a group of the original film's creators including Pete Docter, now chief creative officer at the animation studio behind it, Pixar, on a panel.

In May, Disney-owned computer animation studio Pixar laid off 14% of its staff, or 175 employees, as part of that effort.
