At least 10 people have been killed and others hurt in a fire that broke out at a retirement home near Zaragoza in north-eastern Spain, emergency services say.

Ten people died and two others were taken to hospital, including one person whose condition was described as critical, the local mayor told Spanish radio.

Others, such as a big-cheeked frog named Mayra, will recall Dizzy Gillespie.

The license plate readers are manufactured by Motorola Solutions and, like most others, can detect a vehicle’s make, model and color, while recording the GPS location, date and time.

But privacy advocates worry that the cameras could be used by police or others with access to surveillance networks to track a person for non-criminal activity.
