Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey asked the prime minister if he would exempt GPs and health care providers from the rise.

Sir Keir said the government would ensure GPs "have got the resources" and that funding arrangements would be set out.

The local health board said GPs "continually received training" but did not comment directly on Ms Helme's experience, which she said was "demoralising and traumatising".

Mrs Helme, who is due to have surgery to remove the tumour next month, said she wanted GPs to "listen to their patients".

Josh Steven, whose bike was stolen in December, used a GPS tracker hidden in the frame to find it and was able to see it inside a property.
