He was a cross between Puck and the Energizer Bunny, and yet he was an utter original.

It’s usually a cylindrical cell similar to the Energizer or Duracell AA batteries in your TV remote, but don’t assume it’s the same.

Almost two years after a report warned that children were swallowing batteries at an alarming rate, Energizer is releasing a new battery designed to alert parents if their child has swallowed one.

The new battery was announced in a video last week by Energizer and Trista Hamsmith, whose 18-month-old daughter died after swallowing a button battery from a remote control.

“Mike is the Energizer Bunny of California politics. He gets around, he walks the district. It is a hallmark of his approach,” said David McCuan, a political science professor at Sonoma State who taught McGuire there more than 20 years ago.
