The tiny Pacific island nation of Tuvalu has unveiled its first ever cash machines in a move hailed as momentous by the prime minister.

The closure of the Selkirk's banks and main post office has left the historic market town with only one external cash machine.

No phone signal, no internet, no cash machines.

Some remained open to offer those walking home a place to rest, but many closed because cash machines, card machines and fridges were not working.

It says cards and cash machines can be used as normal - though some customers have said this is not their experience.
