Sarkar — the head chef behind NYC's Baar Baar restaurant and Chicago’s Indienne — teamed up with Shan Foods, a producer of packaged spice mixes, to create two popular appetizers traditionally enjoyed on Diwali.

Steakhouse classics like tartare and carpaccio, along with seafood options such as raw oysters, sea bass crudo and scallops, are all available as appetizers.Be sure to try the veal croquette, served with a three-mustard tasting accompaniment, for a perfectly balanced bite.

We’re told that Jonathan liked to order “no less than 400 appetizers for the table” when out with friends and that he left a generous mound of ashes that was easily divided by loved ones.
