The cities of Santa Ana and Garden Grove have been placed under quarantine Wednesday in light of an uninvited and unwelcome visitor: the oriental fruit fly, an invasive pest that attacks over 230 crops including fruits, nuts and vegetables.

The farm is under quarantine and the state’s department of agriculture is surveilling the area.

There are six other horses in the Taylor barn who are under quarantine but have not tested positive for the virus and will be monitored.

The idea of isolation and quarantine if you are infected is not new but section 138 has been described by critics as "forced detainment under quarantine".
