This cohort has lived through DeSantis-led attacks on their school library books, college majors, and personal identities.

Around 10 years ago, April’s niece, Amanda, began to help her aunt by scanning files for her parole packet at her graduate school library.

Cilla is known to calm pupils before their SATs and sparked donations of £5,000 worth of books from social media followers around the world, restocking the school library.

“All I did was make a statement on censorship,” she writes, noting that her comments were made at her parish public library and that she never mentioned her school library, “but people were posting like I was handing out copies of Hustler magazine at my school.”
