The ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden will host its annual River of Lights holiday attraction from Nov. 30-Dec.

"It covers a very significant amount of area," Naomi Fraga, director of conservation at the California Botanic Garden and research assistant professor of botany at Claremont Graduate University, told Salon.

Quite to the contrary, Jennifer Possley — the director of regional conservation at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden — hopes that it can be revived.

Other spots worth a road trip to see wildflowers right now include Pinnacles National Park, the California Botanic Garden in Claremont and Los Padres National Forest near Los Olivos, reports the wildflower hotline.

Those historic quakes also created the hills that are now part of the Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden in Arcadia, as well as those that give the commanding views at the Huntington Library, home to an estate, library, art collection and gardens established by railway magnate Henry Huntington.
