Being there for someone virtually is not the same as being there physically, experts say.

My adult self sees a meaning here: Trying to understand love through other people’s words is no substitute for experience — for feeling, and being there for someone.

“Sometimes it’s just being there for someone, checking in, asking if they’re okay,” Riba said.

“I still wanted to feel that it was more mine, and not just being there for someone else.”
