Scrabble fans scanning the list of 6,500 new words added to the Collins Official Scrabble Wordlist, which is mainly used outside the United States, may "lolz" or cry or even start "twerking" over the verbiage drawn from social media, slang, technology and other aspects of modern life.

The volume is considered the first English dictionary in the modern sense – an alphabetical wordlist with definitions – and it predates Dr Samuel Johnson's Dictionary by 150 years.
