You don’t have to carry food or drink, you pass your support crew every few minutes and it is impossible to take a wrong turn, unlike most ultra-marathons.

A lot of times we’re driving in our van, and we’re out in the middle of nowhere, like, “Is there something out here? Should we keep going? Did we take a wrong turn?”

“Huh? Did I take a wrong turn? No. I followed their directions,” Nathan said.

Unless you take a wrong turn coming out of the tunnel from Manhattan, it’s not a place you are likely to stumble across.

Some will get stuck, some won’t survive the course and some will take a wrong turn.
