Zoe Ball has announced she is stepping down as presenter of Radio 2's Breakfast Show in December.

Throughout an election campaign, US voters are bombarded with images of the two candidates - speaking from podiums, greeting rally crowds and stepping down aircraft stairs.

“In these dangerous times, staying silent isn’t just indifference, it is complicity. I’m standing up by stepping down from the editorial board.”

The German said he would take an extended period away from management after stepping down at Liverpool at the end of last season.

He announced in August he was stepping down after more than eight years in the role, but he will continue as Foyle MP.
