"I do think that there's a malaise happening across society. People are looking for answers, and sometimes uncompromising, unapologetic, strong-appearing people are easy to gravitate towards," McAvoy says.

“It was amazing - people of all ages and classes came out, from rickshaw pullers to high society people, there were families taking selfies with army officers. We were shouting and celebrating for a new Bangladesh.”

“In our society, people with access to the new technologies and pharmaceuticals are more likely to be white,” Hansen says.

But for the bottom 20% of earners in our society, people who once had a chance to climb up the economic ladder, college has become a treacherous option.

“When I first saw stilts, it was a very big finding. I saw the possibility of them as an instrument that could bring people together to build relationships and a society people believe in,” she said.
