In 2023, Auty was convicted of smuggling millions of pounds of criminal cash from London to Dubai, and sentenced to 42 months in prison.

He will be extradited to Belgium to face charges of human smuggling.

He added: "We need to go further and faster, alongside our international partners, and take the fight directly to the heart of these vile people smuggling networks."

He was accused of running the "tentacle-like" criminal smuggling operation from his French prison cell.

Mr Jahangir said the three people were accused of “committing espionage for the occupying regime of Israel” and “transporting equipment into Iran for the assassination of martyr Fakhrizadeh under the guise of smuggling alcoholic beverages”.
