The defense attorney renounced her post on Monday, a few days after her client, Julio Camargo, an executive with oil and gas industry services firm Toyo Setal, told the courts that PMDB’s frontmen were on the receiving end of the Petrobras scandal, making millions.

Nestor Cervero, Petrobras former head of international operations, was charged Monday along with Julio Camargo, a consultant for Japanese contractor Toyo Setal, for involvement in the bribery and kickback scheme.

Toyo Setal and Samsung Heavy Industries were not immediately available for comment.

Separately, Augusto Mendonça, an executive at Toyo Setal, a shipbuilding company, testified last week that he paid more than $23 million in bribes directly to the governing Workers Party and to Petrobras executives in exchange for contracts to build oil tankers.
