The New York Times just wants to survive, tech billionaires just want to get richer — they’re not in the business of trying to get it right or serve the people, they serve themselves.

“If I am able to serve, I would love to be able to serve the people of Florida,” Lara Trump said, noting that she hasn’t yet been asked to take the role.

The entire American political tradition is premised upon the uncontroversial notion that: “The Government is the servant of the people. It is organized to serve the people. The people are not the servants or slaves of the Government.”

As recently as 2008, the GOP dedicated entire sections of its platform to “Reforming Government to Serve the People.”

This should have been a clear signal that Republican dedication to the bedrock principle that the state should serve the people was wavering.
