Portsmouth-based patrol vessel HMS Medway transported the turtles to the Azores islands, where they were released having been cared for by Newquay's Blue Reef Aquarium and Anglesey Sea Zoo.

Sea zoo owner Frankie Hobro said all four of the turtles it has rescued were discovered by dogs during walks on Welsh beaches.

It's the second Kemp's ridley turtle that has been taken into the care of Anglesey Sea Zoo since 2021.

Biologists from Anglesey Sea Zoo soon realised the turtle was still alive and provided months of intensive care until she was healthy again.

Tally was found stranded and near death on Talacre beach, Flintshire, in 2021 but was nursed back to full health by Anglesey Sea Zoo.
