Many of the campers try to keep the property tidy, picking up trash and cutting the grass with a manual push mower.

These included stripping and staining a deck by hand, mowing the lawn with a push mower, painting both the exterior and interior of the house, and hauling 80-pound cement bags in order to mix and pour cement as part of constructing a walkway in front of the home.

My mower is an old-fashioned contraption, but then again, so am I. I’m old enough to remember watching my father use a push mower.

I like the push mower as much for the sound it doesn’t make as for the sound it does.
