Now, he is in the middle of the longest foreign visit of his 11-and-a-half year papacy.

The 87-year-old had earlier on Tuesday kicked off a 11-day visit to the region, the longest foreign trip of his papacy.

At the start of his papacy, he said, “If a person is gay and seeks God and has good will, who am I to judge?”

When asked about gay people early in his papacy, he hit the headlines by responding, “Who am I to judge?”
