The two-minute “Pauvre Pierrot,” which plays on a reproduction of Reynaud’s signature invention, the Théâtre Optique, makes for a beguiling centerpiece in “City of Cinema: Paris 1850-1907,” a lively and engrossing exhibition on view through July 10 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Eye See Optique in Arlington, Va., was robbed on Jan. 11 when five suspects filled trash bags with Cartier, Dior and Gucci frames – worth about $60,000, the station reported.

In November, a trio of thieves walked into a LensCrafters Optique just after 9 a.m. in Manhattan and swiped multiple trays that held Prada, BB, Tory Burch, Versace, Gucci, Coach and BV frames, the New York Post reported.

The first of those occurred Jan. 11 at Eye See Optique in Arlington.

Particularly exciting was a group of nine vues d’optique, detailed engravings perforated with small holes that come to life when lit from behind.
