"Type 2 diabetes is a disease of elevated blood sugar impacting approximately one in 10 people in the United States that can cause devastating health complications and is usually not cured. It is currently not fully understood why a given person develops the disease or why there is a lot of variation around clinical features across people with the disease," says senior author Miriam S. Udler, MD, PhD, the director of the MGH Diabetes Genetics Clinic and an assistant professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

Current treatments often fail despite long bouts with three to four antibiotic combinations for 12 to 18 months -- more than half of the patients are not cured, yet more than 70% of the patients suffer from notable adverse side effects.

“You have not cured where the court said voter discrimination is found and the process is not equally open to Black voters.”

That’s because “addiction is a chronic, relapsing condition that is managed, not cured,” Banta-Green said.

As the medics will tell you, you are not cured until you reach five years, post-treatment, without a relapse.
