Kind of like how a 10-handicap starts a round 10 shots ahead of a scratch golfer in a net event.

Now, converting the PGA Championship to a ‘net’ event is a bit more controversial, but it really shouldn’t be.

Seriously, when has someone won a net event and not had to take some ribbing for being a sandbagger?

It's a shame that Fitzgerald's win comes under a small cloud of suspicion, but again, anyone who wins a net event would face the same scrutiny.
