Sometimes the guise of mere play is what we need to align ourselves with instinctual ipseity.

A scholastic dissertation on the relationship between “alterity and ipseity” — otherness and selfhood, to use common language — becomes almost satirical juxtaposed with a painting of an attractive young woman casually posed in regal profile on a throne-like upholstered chair.

Led by the singer-songwriter Shawana Kemp and the songwriter and guitarist Jon Heagle, The ensemble will perform with the Noel Pointer Youth Orchestra, and those groups will be joined by the Red Trouser Show, an acrobatic, juggling and comedy duo; Batoto Yetu, a dance troupe that has performed on “Sesame Street”; and Ziporah Roney and Collaborative Artists, who will offer “Echoing Ipseity,” a musical tribute to life that incorporates dance and acrobatics.

Sometimes his exaltation is transcendental: "But oh, those heavenly moments when I feel this three-dimensional universe too narrow to contain my Attributes; when a sense of the divine Ipseity invades me; when I know that my voice is the voice of Truth, and my umbrella God's umbrella!"
