“If the first thing someone does in the morning is go to the bathroom and pee, that’s the first thing they see to start their day, and they’re unhappy with that part of their body, it’s going to impact their mental state throughout the day,” Pearlman said.

“I just couldn’t think, couldn’t move, couldn’t even go to the bathroom,” Ghaddar said.

Her white blood cell count was critically high and her blood pressure perilously low — at one point, as Thurman got up to go to the bathroom, she fainted again and hit her head.

“And I’m like, physically, how am I going to do this? I’ve got missing teeth, my hair’s out of control. I’m in this chair that’s uncomfortable. What if I have to go to the bathroom?”

“They don't go to the bathroom all day,” she said.
