“I’ve been working on it a bit since the season ended, just so in those situations where it might be a tougher lefty or where we need to stay out of a double play, I could get it down,” Lux said.

“I did it a lot coming up through the minor leagues, so it’s nothing foreign. Just kind of been working on it, doing whatever it takes to get it down.”

Surfing is complicated, so when I get it down, it feels like a whole human experience when I’m done.

“Just need to get it more to the outer half and get it down away. In there is where he can handle it and he put a good swing on it. Doesn’t always happen. Hitting’s hard. But … you want to make a better pitch there.”

“We’ve had more snow accumulation in the north, where we’ve had freezing elevations that get it down around 5,000 feet,” said Michael Anderson, the state climatologist.
