DORTMUND, Germany — Borussia Dortmund fans threw fake money and fake bars of gold onto the field during the team’s 2-0 win over Newcastle in the Champions League on Tuesday to protest UEFA’s planned reforms of the competition.

“I practiced with fake money before investing my own money for about two months,” Bribiesca says.

"Now we don't check anymore... we may be taking fake money or may be giving out fake money. It is all the same."

“We just continue to have more conversations with the coaches and understand what’s part of the game, what brings teams energy, what gets them focused, what things they kind of key in on and sort of celebrate. … If the fake money and the hats and stuffed animals are kept within the dugout and it’s not interfering with what’s happening on the competition field itself, we’re okay with that,” she said.
