The canteen, dressing rooms, studios and newsrooms are all there to snoop through, along with grimy alleys at the back of the building, close-ups of wires, a water-based paint disposal area, and some absolutely fascinating fire escapes.

The victims were operating two dump trucks Thursday in the disposal area when they were engulfed by a wall of black sludge-like material, a type of soft gravel that is removed in ferronickel burning, said Dedy Kurniawan, a spokesperson for PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park, known as PT IMIP.

Mulkey said he’s seen tires in the disposal area, but did not want to speculate as to whether there is other unauthorized waste in the burning pile.

Environmental Protection Agency, sludge and wastes were disposed of in several locations on the site, including a stacked-drum disposal area originally believed to contain approximately 35,000 drums; more than 47,000 have since been removed.

That disposal area, known as the Centennial site, is owned by a subsidiary of Rise Gold called Rise Grass Valley.
