In a forest close to Roriak, a group of men and women chop down trees to make charcoal.

But on the morning of 28 September 2023, news spread internationally that the tree had been chopped down overnight.

But one evening in May, it was chopped down at the ankles and the words "what goes around" graffitied on its sandstone base.

The forest, long since chopped down by human hands and machines, now exists in just a handful of pockets, a few spots here and there where the original trees — and their inhabitants — still live.
