“Why can we be understanding of Israeli Americans traveling to Israel to a point where they consider it a birthright to go back, but we can’t show any empathy to Americans who went back to see their families in Gaza for very normal reasons that any of us would go back for?”

Many social media users appeared to be understanding of the situation.

“Like most things in life, once you get to know them, you have more ability to be understanding. And so if you don’t want to know them, then you stay ignorant in a sense.”

“Go outside. Touch some grass. Go do a cartwheel in the backyard or something. It’s weird. I genuinely don’t be understanding.”

I believe we have to be understanding towards people going through similar journeys and not judge them.
