Ever since the Balmoral Hotel clock tower was built in Edinburgh 122 years ago, its time has deliberately been set fast.

The King's Balmoral estate has lodged plans for one its buildings to be turned into a wedding venue.

And although his schedule became busier as he progressed with his treatment, he then retreated to the solace of Balmoral for a summer break and to prepare for this trip.

The King is currently at Balmoral in Scotland and the Prince of Wales is in Windsor.

"My late mother especially treasured the time spent at Balmoral, and it was there, in the most beloved of places, where she chose to spend her final days," the King said.
