During World War II, the United States proudly called itself the “arsenal of democracy” as its munitions factories and shipyards produced an endless supply of weapons to fight the genocidal government of Germany.

As a result, most of America’s initial aid took the form of food — at first we were less the arsenal of democracy than its breadbasket.

It’s now been over two months since the U.S. — which since World War II has fashioned itself as the “Arsenal of Democracy” — last sent military supplies to Ukraine.
