A Welsh football club is cracking down on dog fouling after one of its eight-year-old players was left "covered" in dog poo at a recent practice.

It comes as a research study has found owners who fail to pick up their dog's poo could also be neglecting their pet's health in other ways.

Scientists at Aberystwyth University tested dog waste samples and discovered 20-25% of those from poo which had been left by owners - compared to 6-12% of those sourced responsibly – contained potentially dangerous pathogens.
