Though Latimer has held fundraisers hosted by Republicans, including a major bankroller of former President Donald Trump, his campaign has distanced itself from GOP-hosted fundraisers and told The Intercept he does not have control over who hosted the events.

But up until this year, he’s been more of a bankroller than a role model, paying for the trips and partying “like a rock star” in France.

But they’re the easiest to hit up by voters — and in this case also by a special interest: ride-hailing Lyft, the initiative’s big bankroller.
